「シューマン共振」とは、電離層最下部のD層の中で、超低周波の電磁場が共振する現象で、電磁波が電離層の中を７.8Hzから３１.7Hzで共振しながら周回している現象をさしています。
この共振の周波数は、ニコラ・テラスによりこの現象が発見されたといわれていて、米国のイリノイ大学のシューマン教授がこの周波数を測定したことから「シューマン共振」と呼ばれており、「地球の脳波」とも言われています。
